Complex audit driven by an international institution

Questa was engaged by an international engineering company whose subsidiary was the subject of an audit by a funding institution. London and locally based law firms were engaged to support the client with management of the eDiscovery process.

  • Customer support in managing the eDiscovery process.
  • Analysis of internal documents
  • Advanced data filtering

Scope of work:

In addition to a general document review process, the audit also focused heavily on reviewing electronic evidence, in particular email correspondence, of local management of the client’s subsidiary. The objective of our work was twofold: (i) we supported the client in all key stages of an eDiscovery process, from data collection, through to processing and production, and (ii) we supported the client with a review of local management emails to identify any key issues which the client should be aware of prior to disclosure to the financing institution.

During the processing stage, our work included complex filtering of data using a number of various criteria. During the review stage, a multi-level review structure was established and an online review platform was made available to ca. 20 reviewers located in multiple countries both within and outside of the EU.

In this case, the whole e-Discovery process was performed with the use of RelativityOne e-Discovery online platform by Relativity, Inc.
  • Managing the eDiscovery platform
  • Data completeness
  • Optimal efficiency

Result:

The Questa team was instrumental when supporting the client and international team of legal advisors with technical requests related to the setup and the management of the eDiscovery platform. Importantly, our recommendations improved the completeness of data, the quality of the search terms and also the efficiency of the whole review process. The production of electronic data prepared by Questa was relied upon entirely by the client and the counsel.
